<p>In 2022, Schirmbeck GmbH has extended its glass recycling to include a finest grinding process. For this, we coupled the controls of the mills, the conveyor systems and the silos with our master control and added a uniform visualisation.<br />
Due to the very fine grinding of the glass and the dust produced, we have designed a strong aeration system which avoids deposit of fine glass particles in the control cabinets.<br />
Process data and messages of all plant parts are displayed on our control unit and reflected on the PC in the central office.</p>

<p>We configured the controls for the wastewater treatment plant and the ore-washing plant and designed them according to US regulations UL 508 A and UL 698 A. The scope of delivery included three switch and control systems.</p>
<p>One of which was built double-walled in stainless steel to reduce heat input under subtropical climate conditions.<br />
Two Allen-Bradley ControlLogics control systems which are connected redundantly were used.</p>
<p>The system controls five filter step screens, two conveyor screws and two wash presses for the wastewater treatment.</p>
<p>The tight safety measures in mining have shaped the whole nine-month project. Just for on-site commissioning activities, a three-day safety check had to be completed in advance by our employees.</p>

<p>Absolutely pure quartz sand and a constant grain structure are the requirements for “crystal clear glass”. Even the smallest impurities can cause large variations in colour. In a complex process, the treatment plant processes the degraded good to quartz sand of the highest purity which is ready for production.</p>
<p>The plant was planned and manufactured according to customer needs without a PLC system. We installed a total of 1,600 relays, i.e. the logic was constructed by us step-by-step using hardware, and visualisation was achieved using a mimic diagram.</p>
<p>Sifting and classifying systems lead to enormous mechanical stress on the system. For this reason, the entire control technology was pooled in a separate electric container and installed away from the production flow.</p>
